EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT WHALES TODAY.

Renowned scientists, photographers, filmmakers and conservationists are coming together for presentations, whale watches, two films, a live auction and an education/art expo at the 11th annual Whale Tales event.

The sponsor is Whale Trust Maui, the leading research organization studying whales in Maui and throughout the world. Since 2006 attendees have contributed more than $500,000 to conduct research around Hawaii.

On hand will be three leading National Geographic whale photographer Flip Nicklin (shown above), whale untangling specialist Ed Lyman and researcher Jim Darling, all profiled in my new book Voices of Aloha on Magical Maui. profiled in my new book Voices of Aloha on Magical Maui. It is not too late to partake of these talks being offered at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua Saturday afternoon Feb. 25 as well as Sunday the 26h.

This year’s presenters include Baird of the Cascadia Research Collective; Rachel Cartwright of The Keiki Kohola Project; Denise Herzing of the Wild Dolphin Project; Anke Kuegler of the University of Hawaii at Manoa; Ed Lyman of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary; Greg MacGillivray of MacGillivray Freeman Films; Ralph Pace, freelance underwater photographer; Daniel Palacios of the Marine Mammal Institute; Robert Pitman of the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service; and Whitehead, joining Dr. Jim Darling, Dr. Meagan Jones Gray, Flip Nicklin and Jason Sturgis of Whale Trust Maui.

Some of the leading researchers will be on hand next week to provide insights into whale behavior on board whale excursions.

Whale Tales is hosted annually by Whale Trust Maui, a nonprofit dedicated to whale research and education.

Whale Trust is the premier organization promoting whale research, exceeding by far other organization that looks into the habits of whales.
